As part of my year-end celebrations, I would like to share with you some 2007 winners… “Winner” sila in the sense that these are some of the things that made my 2007 interesting. Just like the MGG logo, they sparkled and shone this 2007! Read on, and see MGG’s choice for Winner Hunk, Winner Spa, Winner Masseur, Winner Hang Out Place, etcetera, etcetera!
Winner Men!

Winner Hunk: Migs the Manila Gay Guy’s choice for “Winner Hunk” this year is… Joem Bascon. I like the happy-go-lucky thing around him, the right amount of handsomeness, and the “just right” hunky body (not too built). I would have put Enchong Dee but he’s too slender in my opinion that “hunk” may not be the right category for him.

Winner Twink: Enchong Dee. “Twink” is a gay slang to describe an attractive young or young-looking gay male (usually 18-22) with a slender build, a slight muscular physique, and little or no body hair. Very Enchong Dee, except perhaps with a question - is he really gay? But really, I think he is the epitome of the Pinoy Twink. My close runner-up for this category is the 2007 Hunk Of The Year, as chosen by MGG readers, Jake Cuenca.
Winner Kikay Kit!
Winner Beauty Secret: Olay Total Effects+. Yes, dears, Migs the Manila Gay Guy is an avid fan of this beauty product. I’ve tried other products… and I must echo Gretchen Barreto’s “Olay Total Effects can replace my more expensive brands any time!” Hahaha! Promise! I’ve used Ponds and L’Oreal but they don’t compare with Olay as regards maintaining my beautiful mala-porselana skin, hehehe!
Winner Body Wash: Body Shop’s Arber Hair and Body Wash. Lalakeng-lalake, butch na butch ang smell! Before Arber, I was using the Body Shop’s White Musk Bath and Shower Gel. Since Arber, White Musk has become my feet wash na lang, hehehe.
Winner Perfume: I’ve been using Lauder’s Pleasure for years. Never failed to arouse my partners, hahaha! A close second would be the refreshing, citrusy Clinique Happy for Men. For variety I also use Body Shop’s Arber Eau de Toilette every now and then.
Winner Touch!
Winner Spa: Sanctuario in Malate. Great ambiance, the outdoor pool and jacuzzi, along with the new “villa-type” massage rooms clinched the “Winner” title. Runner-up would be its younger brother, Sanctuario Quezon City. It’s much smaller but their lounge is such a relaxing place. I heard Wensha in Pasay is also a treat, but since I have not experienced it yet, I cannot really vouch for the place.
Winner Massage Place: I would say Hilom and Revivir are really neck-to-neck in this category. Both are very well put together, catering to the urban gay men. Hilom’s more upscale though, the design and decor are classy and you wouldn’t think twice showing it off to the more discriminating sosi friends you have. It sits right smack at the center of a restaurant-bar complex so in that sense it is discreet. Revivir is more homey and spacious though, and is situated in a residential district making it another discreet place to have some relaxation and fun on the side as well. While these 2 places are recommendable, I would say the experience would really depend on the masseur you get. I hope you get lucky! Hehehe! (Hint: the best masseurs are normally not the best looking ones.)
Winner Masseur: Albert of Sanctuario Spa in Quezon City. This guy may not be your typical pretty boy but he has his own “bad boy” appeal — not to mention strong hands that know how to do real massage. I repeat, real massage. He’s a real pleasure too — go check him out, and find out what I mean. Runner up would be Derek of Hilom (best in sensual techniques) and Greg of Revivir (best in courteous service, and ‘body massage’).
Winner Sensual Masseur: In my opinion, Gardo of Hilom gives the best over-all sensual experience. If you’re bothered by “transacting” before the act, I say you’ll have no issues with this guy. He gives a great “sensual” experience without the feeling of a business transaction. This is based on my personal experience. I do not know if he transacts/haggles with clients who are not as beautiful as moi (hahaha!) But seriously, this guy made me feel real good about the whole sensual thing, minus the guilt and all drama.
Winner Entertainment!
Winner Movie House: Trinoma Cinemas. I love those that have special Lazy Boy seats. Makes me feel like a King.
Winner Comedy Bar: Bar Uno along Timog Avenue, Quezon City. The intimacy of this place makes it a winner. It’s small and cozy, unlike Laffline, Punchline, or Zirkoh which is like a big arena. Bar Uno hosts also take time to mingle with their audience so feel at home talaga.

Winner Comedy Bar Hosts: Vanessa Kirei and Twinkle of Bar Uno. Vanessa Kirei is physically challenged but with a great spanking attitude — that makes her a winner. Twinkle has the most wit among all comedy bar hosts I’ve seen. Put them together, Vanessa and Twinkle, and you’ll have one hell of a night out! Honorable mention is this guwapo host from Zirkoh Timog who I chanced upon when I went there to watch The Studs launch. I didn’t even get his name, but I say he’s pretty hot! (And great singing voice too! His pic below — sorry can’t get a better one.)

How about you guys, any notable “winners” for you this year?

I like your choices for the perfumes! Just because I use all of them right now! Oh diba, gay guys think alike talaga. Pleasures is nice, kasi di masyado musky, parang pa girl pero discreet ching!
Hmmm I really should try Olay. I am using their facial wash and it too works like magic!

akala ko merong aards ang mga viweres na nagcocomment like pinaka-churvang viewer, pinaka-novelista (mahaba) magcomment, pinakacontrabida magcomment, pinaka-frequent viewer/reader, pinaka-madrama magcomment, pinaka-highbrow magcomment, etc etc etc…
[Reply]
win ka migz for sharing a lot of stuffs!
[Reply]
jeez. are those your only interests?.. gay comedy clubs, sensual massages and body products? thats why the straights think we’re all shallow.
[Reply]
and some of us are overly concerned what straight people think….
[Reply]
i definitely agree with the Trinomas cinemas with lazy boy seats.. i love it!!
i think sanctuario spa in QC is far better in malate but people have different taste you know.. is taht albert the one from their tagaytay/batangas branch? he’s really good, never mind the looks hehe
[Reply]
oh by the way, joem is my crush ever since i saw him on tv and when i met him last year during cosmo bachelor bash (thru a common friend) mahal ko na siya, he’s such a nice guy and i found out that he’s a schoolmate yun nga lang he’s younger so no chance of seeing him during college days
[Reply]
@avp: i guess you have to read most articles to know that there is more than vanity and men in this site…
[Reply]
For me, it’s JERICHO of Sanctuario Malate.
[Reply]
and i thought merong ‘exclusive contract’ si joem with me. lol he’s the only reason i watched that teenybopper comedy show on abs-cbn/pinoy channel. anong show nga ‘yon? the one directed by buboy mortiz. it was one of the funnier comedy shows. first episode pa lang i already noticed him since he was the resident beefcake. he was so liberal in showing off his bod it made me wonder how gay the creative forces were behind the show. pati gay sub-plot and character meron.
winner moment for me in 2007: coming out to my mother (and kinda, in effect, to my whole family). yay!
winner snippet of wisdom: close friendships and ‘best friends’ can’t be forced. it’s either you are or you’re not.
winner snippet of wisdom, surprisingly paraphrased from a movie (sshh!): “a crazy person is one who does the same thing over and over but keeps expecting different results.”
this is such a happy, positive site. have a good 2008 everyone!
[Reply]
happy new year, migs!!
[Reply]
@avp: alien ka ba o predator? have you read previous posts? these things are not the only things that Migs, (or maybe i should say “WE”) care/s about. This blog features a very wide range of topics, from what you call ’shallow’ to things quite deep, that someone like you might not be able to fathom…
I’m not really a fan of joem, have you seen PATAYIN sa SINDAK’s trailers? He looks like a copy-cat of PIOLO. I believe they are related, but that doesn’t mean he(JOEM) has to imitate PIOLO.
[Reply]
Hello AVP. What are your interests ba? Hehehehehe.
[Reply]
olay regenerist and olay definity are better than olay total effects. too bad they are not yet available in the philippines. regenerist line is now available in asia, particularly thailand except the philippines. i’ve tried olay total effects and there is not much effect compared to the 2 other olay lines.
[Reply]
isinama ako nung friends ko sa BAR UNO last time nung nagbakasyon ako sa Pinas, and it was the best. I enjoyed sobra, i really laughed my heart out! Vanessa and twinkle was there too and the crowd was rowdy!
[Reply]
Hi Migs! I hope you don’t mind. I’ve also come up with a list of my own. Here goes:
Winner Hunk: John Mullaly - I usually do not go for half breeds (sorry for the term) but he’s my pick for ‘07
Winner Beauty Secret: Olay Total Effects, hands down! Just what Gretch said: “Only Olay can replace Olay.” My FF friends and I can’t wait to try OTE 7!
Winner Perfume: Ahead of the pack would be Polo Blue. You know the perfumes that are “pang aircon lang?” Well this one isn’t. You can spray it on and jog around the oval for an hour and I swear - you’ll still smell good afterwards. Of course, who wouldn’t fall for someone who’s also wearing Clinique Happy or Bvlgari BLV Pour Homme EDT?
Winner Sweets: Definitely Almond Roca and Ferrero Rocher!
Winner Tambayan: Starbucks and Baang Coffee. The latter has free wireless internet service (WIFI) and a lot of G4M habitues.
Winner Shirt errr Shop: All gays have at least one piece of clothing from this shop: F&H
Winner Gizmo: Thank God for Ipod!
Winner Mall: Trinoma
I could go on and on but this is it for now. Ciao!
[Reply]
^^where is that Baang Coffee?
na curious tuloy ako.
[Reply]
It’s along tomas morato. nevermind the coffee. just enjoy the “view.”
[Reply]
guys ano yung perfume/cologne na HUGO BOSS, not the blue one, na sobrang bango? ewan ko ba i have this tendency be aroused when a guy wears that smell.
[Reply]
i agree with the olay total effects..panalong panalo kahit dami ng choices dito sa US.
[Reply]
hayyy ang bababaw…. so shallow…
[Reply]
Expensive lifestyle but I don’t agree with facial cdreams making your skin beautiful. It is what you eat that makes the most difference. Vegetables and fruits makes your skin perfect internally and you glow like the “orient” of a pearl.
Facial creams are doing little for external and doing nothing for the internal. And talking about pearls again. It is the thickness of the pearl’s skin or nacre that makes it lustrous. A thin coated pearl lacks depth, luster and orient.

congratz on your new year!
