The first time I heard of nineteen-year-old Jay Aquitania was when Jun Lana announced the final cast of his pet movie project, RoXXXanne. Jay was chosen to play Marlon, a closeted teenage gay guy. Of course, RoXXXanne co-star Janvier Daily was also in the announcement but by that time, Janvier was already all over MGG. In contrast, Jay was nowhere in MGG, and as I discovered, pretty much nowhere in the internet as well. I had some difficulty sourcing up pictures of the guy; so imagine my delight when I was given a chance to sit in a photoshoot with Jay Aquitania.
Jay arrived early for the shoot, as I did too, but initially I was too shy to really start conversing. I instead talked with Jenjen the make-up artist. As I learned a little bit about Jenjen, his work, his life and family, I realized I was there to actually get to know the actor and not his make-up artist. So I went ahead and introduced myself to Jay. I noticed he was a very shy boy.
The shoot commenced soon after. Here’s the make-up session…
Jenjen was a very nice guy, he seems to know how to unfreeze his subjects. While I was snapping the above photos, Jenjen was priming Jay with questions about RoXXXanne — specifically on how daring it was (I overheard Jay saying something like, “may kissing scene kami ni Janvier. Nakaka-ilang sa umpisa, pero ayos lang. Naka-5 takes pa kami.”) Jay is a shy boy alright but with some nudging, I later found out, he was a good conversationalist din naman pala.
And then the actual photoshoot began…
