It’s been a while since my last personal post — things have been crazy at work these past weeks that I rarely had time to collect myself to write a decent personal entry. Pero ngayon, sige, hala sulat! Hehehe!

Last Thursday, after work, I drove all the way from my office to CCP to catch Virtuosos 2008: Voices Through Time. The gala concert showcased our foremost Pinoy classically-trained singers: soprano Camille Lopez Molina, mezzo soprano Clarissa Ocampo, tenors Nolyn Cabahug and Randy Gilongo, Berlin-based bass baritone Jonathan Zaens, countertenor Mark Anthony Carpio, the Philippine Madrigal Singers, and Chiang Kai Shek College Youth Choir; they performed together with the Philippine Philharmonic Orchestra (PPO) under the baton of Maestro Josefino Chino Toledo, Ballet Philippines and Teatro Ambahanon. I came to the show really wanting to just listen to the wonderful voices of these Pinoy talents (minus the usual biritan on TV) and I was not disappointed. I particularly liked Camille Lopez Molina (powerful and sensitive performance) and Jonathan Zaens (san niya hinuhugot ang boses na ganun?! at, eto pa — cutie alert! Hahaha!)

Friday came and I was with a bunch of blogger friends watching an innovative Dulaang UP musical / dance-cical entitled “Orosman at Zafira” at the UP Wilfrido Ma. Guerero Theater. It was so beautifully directed and choreographed by first-timer Dexter Santos. Refreshing! It’s a Francisco Baltazar komedya translated to a visual and musical treat, ang galing! Not to mention the uber-hotness of my favorite character Zelim (played by mega-energetic JC Santos).

(Pic above, JC Santos in mohawk, with blogger-friend Poyt, happy p3p3 ang bading.)

Good news that the show is extended, with its last performances on March 6-8, 7PM. Go watch!

I particularly like watching live shows like ‘Virtuosos’ and ‘Orosman at Zafira’ — I marvel at the passion for performance of the artists involved, them knowing how temporal their performance is and still they give their all. I identify with them maybe because I live in the same way (di ba nga sabi ni Shakespeare, “All the world’s a stage”)… and for me, each moment is an opportunity to share and give my all, with passion and purpose. Ayan, nagphi-philosophize na naman ako, hehehe!

Anyway, yesterday, Sunday, a relaxing day was capped with watching a movie at Trinoma. Guess what I watched? My Big Love. Hahaha! In fairness, acceptable ang quality ng Pinoy movie na ito. I’ve always liked Toni Gonzaga, and in this film siya talaga ang stand out for me. Of course, Sam Milby was cute, and doubly cute kapag topless, hahaha!

So there, a week of watching such diverse performances. It’s so enjoyable to be gay and cultured (o-ha!) here in Manila. Small things that make me really happy that I choose to stay here in this country.

World Peace, everyone! Mwah!

I was disappointed with My Big Love. The movie was much too cheesy for me and there were plenty of cringe-inducing lines in various dialogues. But in fairness, Sam Milby is hot! On the other hand, Kian Kazemi seemed to have gained some weight compared to his hot pictures as featured here before.

Interestingly, I was at Gold’s Gym Alabang during the time Star Cinema was shooting the gym scenes. Some of the real personal trainers got to extra in the movie, hehehe, but practically all of the clientele are hired extras. It was a hassle doing my routine with all of the lights and cameras hogging the space. And I totally didn’t recognize Sam Milby in his prosthetics. :)

Camille Lopez is really amazing. So as Randy Gilongo. Hats off to them unrecognized, struggling but precious world class talents! If you get the chance Migs, go catch Rachelle Gerodias perform. Sobrang galing din ng DIVAng ito. Maganda pa.
