to believe or not to believe in God. this has always been a constant dilemma within me. i think it's because the church as an institution has been effectively and deliberately misinterpreting the true word of God. to my chagrin, my parents have recently converted into born again christians. although they have expressed in words their acceptance of my being gay, their actions tell a different story. oh well.

anyway, i frequently hear a lot of people say that being gay is a choice. such remarks never fail to annoy me. if to be gay was a choice, eh di sana wala ng naging bading to make things a lot easier for them. to be gay will never be a choice. to be gay is to be gay, period. to be gay and adopt a child to raise is a choice. to be gay and still marry a woman and raise a family is a choice.

i loved your blog drew. for a few moments, i somehow felt "found". peace.

Drew, my friend, that is one good article, couldn't have said it any better...

If i may?

Let us put it this way:

God is Love and Love is God...

How could God even think of hating any of His own Children?

P.S.

I'm not even gay.

sa inferno, homosexuals inuulanan ng apoy while running naked. when my cousin was reading me dante, that's like the first time i got scared of being gay. i must be like twelve or something and it really made me think. kasi bata pa lang ako i made a fabulous outing na of myself. so un... feeling ko kahit na matanda na ako naandun pa din yung fear. maybe it's not rational to believe in that fate or anything but so long as this message of exclusion is constantly and consistently heard or read and with such venomous hatred, the path to hell seems so certain...

NO ONE really knows who goes to heaven or who goes to hell. In fact, the existence of either has not been proven. They are all part of Christian belief. And Christ himself asks his followers not to judge. So why don't we all chill on this one.

Laura Schlessinger is a US radio personality who dispenses advice to people who call in to her radio show. Recently, she said that homosexuality is an abomination according to Leviticus 18:22 and cannot be condoned under any circumstances. The following is an open letter to Dr. Laura penned by a US resident:

Dear Dr. Laura,

Thank you for doing so much to educate people regarding God's Law. I have learned a great deal from your show and I try to share that knowledge with as many people as I can. When someone tries to defend the homosexual lifestyle, for example, I simply remind him or her that Leviticus 18:22 clearly states it to be an abomination. End of debate. I do need some advice from you however, regarding some of the specific laws and how to follow them.

(a) When I burn a bull on the altar as a sacrifice, I know it creates a
pleasing odor for the Lord (Lev. 1:9). The problem is my neighbors. They claim the odor is not pleasing to them. Should I smite them?

(b) I would like to sell my daughter into slavery, as sanctioned in Exodus 21:7. In this day and age, what do you think would be a fair price for her?

(c) I know that I am allowed no contact with a woman while she is in her period of menstrual uncleanliness (Lev. 15:19-24). The problem is, how do I tell? I have tried asking, but most women take offence.

(d) Lev. 25:44 states that I may indeed possess slaves, both male and
female, provided they are purchased from neighboring nations. A friend of mine claims that this applies to Mexicans, but not Canadians. Can you clarify? Why can't I own Canadians?

(e) I have a neighbor who insists on working on Sunday (the Sabbath). In the book of Exodus verse 35:2 it clearly states he should be put to death. Am I morally obligated to kill him myself?

(f) A friend of mine feels that even though eating shellfish is an
abomination (Lev. 11:10), it is a lesser abomination than
homosexuality. I don't know. Can you settle this?

(g) Lev. 21:20 states that I may not approach the altar of God if I have a
defect in my sight. I have to admit that I wear reading glasses. Does my vision have to be 20/20, or is there some wiggle room here?

(h) Most of my male friends get their hair trimmed, including the hair
around their temples, even though this is expressly forbidden by Lev.19:27. How should they die?

(i) I know from Lev. 11:6-8 that touching the skin of a dead pig makes me unclean, but may I still play football if I wear gloves?

(j) My uncle has a farm. He violates Lev. 19:19 by planting two different crops in the same field, as does his wife by wearing garments made of two different kinds of thread (cotton/polyester blend). He also tends to curse and blaspheme a lot. Is it really necessary that we go to all the trouble of getting the whole town together to stone them? (Lev.24:10-16). Couldn't we just burn them to death at a private family affair like we do with people who sleep with their in-laws? (Lev. 20:14).

I know you have studied these things extensively, so I am confident you can help. Thank you again for reminding us that God's word is eternal and unchanging, and we should do what the bible says.

Your devoted disciple and adoring fan.

Yeah right. I might as well be a priest then...oh no, I think that hypocritical, evil, stealing church won't allow gays into the brotherhood (isn't that one of the new rules of that church now?). What you are trying to say is all of us practicing gays should practice the art of celibacy? Hoy, for your information celibacy is a gift! If that were innate in every man you wouldn't be having problems recruiting men into your organization. And by the way, talking about the act of the gift of life, I have been in a relationship with a man for almost 20 years now and my Love for this man has evolved to a level where, I know for a fact, a lot of straight couples will never ever achieve. I believe that sex with love is one of the purest forms of love whether it is done by straights or gays or whether it produces children or not. Just because I can not procreate makes my actions sinful? Whatever happened to Love? In a world so over populated now, people starving everywhere, no homes, it will burst in the seams and implode one day if nothing is done about it, you still preach the gift of life? I think that church should start recognizing birth control, make a new stance, but of course you will never allow that for the simple reason of that flimsy excuse called "gift of life". We were all born differently some have it some don't but we are not any more different in Gods eyes! Face the truth and get off your high horse, we're here, we're queer and that is a fact of life. No institution in this world can change that, not even God himself (believe me because I believed in that term "faith can move mountains" and prayed so many novenas, rosaries, went to church everyday and believed and had faith that God would make me straight one day. Well, guess what I'm still queer as ever and the only thing that runs in my mind right now is to continue accepting myself and believe that God put me here for a reason and I am not going to let a band of men in dresses destroy what I have finally accepted. If the church can not accept who I am, it most certainly isn't my problem and the church has issues to deal with when it comes to this, so stop ramming down my throat what is well known to have been a book that was created by a group of men for their selfish and ruthless aggrandizement). If I will be damned to hell for this action then so be it (but I won't go to hell because I prayed so hard to God one day to show me his approval of me and my actions and this one he gave his blessings, whether you take that as the demon who approved it is your problem not mine. I am at peace with him now). No wonder I turned my back on your institution.

P.S. Why don't you get Manoling to join the priesthood. Of course he will not be accepted, you and I know that for a fact.

I’m sorry but I find the facts stated in this article as crude and misleading, first of all, Saint Augustine and the other Fathers of the Church are not asexual or those who are distasteful of sex, Saint Augustine in fact had committed many acts of sexual intercourse with the opposite sex before his spiritual conversion through the sermons of St. Ambrose of Milan, never has the Church said that sexual intercourse per se is bad, it is sinful based on the intention of the person and homosexual intercourse falls under this category, the word homosexual never appeared on the bible, but so is abortion, terms are merely designation of acts, if the acts were committed before the term was coined it would still be considered a sin. I would like to quote a passage on the New Testament with a more clarified renunciation of sexual acts, which is Romans 1:26-27 “God gave them up unto vile passions: for their women changed the natural use into that which is against nature: and likewise also the men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their lust one toward another…” Basing itself on Sacred Scripture, which presents homosexual acts as acts of grave depravity, scripture and tradition have always declared that homosexual acts are intrinsically disordered. They are contrary to the natural law. They close the sexual act to the gift of life. They do not proceed from a genuine affective and sexual complementarity. Under no circumstances can they be approved. Homosexuals are not condemned by the Church per se, it is the acts of homosexuality which the Church renounces, yet the Catholic Church requires people struggling with homosexuality to practice chastity, the Church does not totally condemn homosexuals to damnation, it acknowledges that homosexuality can be "a trial" and stresses that people with such tendencies must be accepted with respect, compassion, and sensitivity, however the homosexuals themselves must acknowledge that homosexual thoughts and actions are sinful and must strive to renounce them and devote themselves willingly to a life of chastity and piousness, a very good example of this would be Manoling Morato (Jake Cuenca’s Grand Uncle) one could be innately “gay” and yet live a chaste and pious life free from the sins of homosexual acts which sadly many gay men and women today condone and indulge in.

To Tsinito,

Ahh..the fire and brimstone scare tactics again. Does that still work? I thought only Colorado fundamentalists use them still. Never mind.

Of course, you know, we wont have to fight about this if only your God did one teensy weensy little thing.

What if your Hebrew God had the foresight to see all the suffering that the gay and lesbian community had to endure from the countless morons that worship him. And if he truly had compassion for them then why couldnt he...I mean...would it have been difficult for him to make an addendum to the Commandments? Shall we say...

The 11th Commandment

"I am the Queen, thy God, thou shalt not insult, mame or kill those of my kin or like me for I am a bitchy faggot. I know, I know! I did mention number 6...'Thou shalt not kill' already but you f**king braindead idiots are so thick that you would just ignore that unless I specified it more clearly. Now get me Archangel Michael? Where the hell is he? He is supposed to give me a massage at 2:00. Make sure that he has the fleshlight!"

Unfortunately, the problem is that God did not forget the 11th Commandment. No, no, no. Not on your willy! The real problem is that 'God', the one that we are told to believe in, is a true-blue, without a doubt, one hundred percent, Texas born and bred ....HETEROSEXUAL!!!!!! You may ask. Why on earth does the Ruler of the Universe have a sexual orientation for? I dont know. But there you go!

And ever since, the 3 major religions that HE (not she) spawned had been in a constant war with those males that have no inkling for a pussy or those females that dont care about dick. The Jews hate them. The Christians persecute them. The Muslims just simply execute them!

And yet, some of us gays still yearn for a strong straight male from the sky to come down and rescue us from all this. A heterosexual hero who will sweep us away into his castle in the clouds where we will make mad passionate fellatio on each other. Condoms not required. The ultimate straight-male fantasy, I guess. But this straight male will not allow us to get within a mile of his dick, let alone touch it!

So, I wonder who the real braindead idiots are? The believers who persecute the victims? Or the victims who persecute themselves?

And if he truly had compassion for them then why couldnt he…I mean…would it have been difficult for him to make an addendum to the Commandments? Shall we say…

The 11th Commandment

“I am the Queen, thy God, thou shalt not insult, mame or kill those of my kin or like me for I am a bitchy faggot. I know, I know! I did mention number 6…’Thou shalt not kill’ already but you f**king braindead idiots are so thick that you would just ignore that unless I specified it more clearly. Now get me Archangel Michael? Where the hell is he? He is supposed to give me a massage at 2:00. Make sure that he has the fleshlight!”

Unfortunately, the problem is that God did not forget the 11th Commandment. No, no, no. Not on your willy! The real problem is that ‘God’, the one that we are told to believe in, is a true-blue, without a doubt, one hundred percent, Texas born and bred ….HETEROSEXUAL!!!!!!

Or the victims who persecute themselves?

i have no problem with that since i'm not like many people who keep on believing because they want to save their lives after death. i don't believe there's god and that there's heaven or hell.
