Maxi Makes Us Proud Once More

Maximo Oliveros, ang bading na dalaginding, does it once again!
“Ang Pagdadalaga ni Maximo Oliveros†was nominated for Best Foreign Film at the 22nd Independent Spirit Awards — a first for RP cinema. The Independent Spirit Awards is the independent films’ version of the Oscars. It honors movies produced on small budgets of less than $20 million. Auraeus Solito, the director of “Maximo,†is up against the following films and their respective directors: “12:08 East of Bucharest†(Romania), Corneliu Porumboiu; “Chronicle of an Escape†(Argentina), Israel Adrian Caetano; “Days of Glory†(France/Morocco/Algeria/Belgium), Rachid Bouchareb; and “The Lives of Others†(Germany), Florian Henckel von Donnersmarck. The winner will be announced on Feb. 24, 2007. Good luck, Aureaus!
