Ada’s Dream Come True
Now that we’re on the subject of gay guy + straight guy love affair, let me inject this piece. For those lucky souls who were able to catch Zsazsa Zaturnnah ze Muzical in any one of its 5 runs, the following finale song should be familiar.
(DODONG)
Matuyo man ang dagat at matunaw man ang buwan
Nais kong sumama saan ka man magpunta
Hawakan mo ako… maglalakbay tayo
(DODONG - spoken)
Parang alam ko na ang isasagot mo. Ngiti naman d’yan.
(ADA)
Huwag mong babanggitin ang salitang pag-ibig
Ilang ulit nang nasunog aking puso
Ang pangakong iyong binibitawan
Masarap mang pakinggan… mahirap paniwalaan
(DODONG)
Ikaw ang superhero ng buhay ko, ikaw…
Naliligaw ka man ngayon, ikaw naman ay aking natagpuan
Halika na sa piling ko, kita’y iuuwi
Dito sa bisig ko ika’y mahimbing
(ALL CAST)
Ikaw ang ang superhero ng buhay ko, ikaw
Pag-ibig mo’t pagmamahal walang kinikilalang kulay o pangalan
Nais kong matutong magmahal ng tulad mo
Turuan mo ako, turuan mo ako…
Ikaw ang superhero ng buhay kong ito
Ikaw ang Krystala at Darna ko
Ang Sugo at Mulawin ko, Lastikman at Gagamboy
Si Volta at Kapten Barbel ko
Ang Super G ng buhay ko…
Ikaw ang superhero ng buhay ko!
I love this song! While people may raise their eyebrows on how Ada’s dream came true with Dodong’s panliligaw, I still believe it is a hopeful and powerful ending. We have Vince de Jesus to thank for such beautiful and insightful lyrics. I want to dedicate this song to all gay guys out there who are pining for their dream straight guy lover. (No, I’m not encouraging it; libre naman mangarap, so go! Hehehe!)
Good news to Zaturnnah fans like me: Carlo Vargara, creator of Zsazsa Zaturnnah is now busy at work for ZZZ 2.0 — the much awaited sequel! He writes in his blog:
It was only a few days ago that, finally, I found a point for (Zsazsa Zaturnnah) Book 2. It’s a theme I can strongly relate to at this point in my life. That having settled, the myriad ideas began to connect, and I was able to breathe easier.
Yey! Can’t wait!

yey, migs!!! talaga? may zzz 2 na in the works? cool! then i guess that would also mean a zzz ze muzikal 2 rin! hanggang ngayon pinakikinggan ko pa rin ang cast recording ng zzz. such beautiful songs by sir vince.
oh well, by the way, i tend to fall for straight guys… kaya lang i can’t tell the guy about what i feel. hanggang ngayon umaasa pa rin ako na pwedeng maging kami nung long time love ko.. hehe. hay, wishful thinking. minsan iniisip ko sabihin na lang sa kanya.

um, migs? bading si dodong no
siempre in the closet siya nung una, pero na-realize rin niya na bading siya in the end. (well at least that’s my reading of it. i’d like to think it’s more empowering, no? kesa naman we perpetuate the myth of the straight guy falling for the gay guy.(i hope that doesn’t sound too judgmental, haha))

@miguel - yeah i also want to believe that dodong the character is gay. because really, the physical appearance should never be the indicator of one’s sexual preference. believe me, i know a lot of very straight-acting, straight-looking, and straight-sounding guys who are as gay as the neighborhood parlorista in terms of sexual preference. not that they are just acting it out, but they are naturally like that. Diversity, such a beautiful thing!
